Chasing Butterflies in my Mind

"In my mind, I chased butterflies again with Sarah and got on her red bike

and sailed down the hill.

Love reached out to me in the darkness.

I remembered the songs and prayers I had learned at the orphanage

I started to raise my voice in the silence of the cold empty building

"Jesus loves me this I know

For the bible tells me so

Little ones to him belong

They are weak

But he is strong

Yes, Jesus loves me

Yes, Jesus loves me

Yes, Jesus loves me

The bible tells me so"

(lyrics by Anna Bartlett Warner)

The song filled the dark silence of the night.

Finally, I fell asleep with tears running down my face."

(excerpt from Outside the Gate)

###

FOREVER FAMILY

Knit together through the cross

We are a family with many parts

Rainbows shine

Through tear drenched fog

Walking with Jesus

Counting the cost

Remembering

Surrendering

Jesus lifted my soul from the grave

With power from the cross

Mighty to save

He bound up my wounds

He filled me with light

Trauma within me healed with his life

Remembering

Surrendering

I am part of the family

The family of God

Beating together with one heart

Jesus has made a way for us

Creating a family with many parts

Thank you Lord Jesus

For the cross

Remembering

Surrendering

"Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function

So it with Christ's body.

We are many parts of one body

And we all belong to each other."

(Romans 12:4 & 5- NLT)
