Love That Lays Down

What Kind of Love is This?

Bob Dylan recalls the story like this:

"Oh God said to Abraham "Kill me a son."

Abe says

"Man you must be putting me on"

God says "No"

Abe say, " What?"

(Hwy 61, Revisited)

"Take your son, your only son whom you love - Isaac - and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you." Genesis 22

I have more questions then answers

I am just the story teller

On October 2nd, 2006 a 32 year old man walked in to the West Nickel Mines Amish School. He bound ten trembling little girls by the ankles, 6 to 13 years old.

A little girl named Barbie Fisher who survived told a story of bravery and courage

She spoke of the love of Christ.

His hand and His footprints were all over that classroom

The doors were locked but Christ was there

Two of the oldest girls tried to make a deal with the mad man

One of these girls was Barbie's older sister

Before the shooting began she said

"Please shoot me first."

Offering up her life in an attempt to save her younger classmates

Then another twelve year old girl stepped forward.

"You can shoot me second."

Both girls lost their lives that day.

The families of the victims immediately forgave the killer

They were full of hurt

There was too much love in their heart

There could be no hate.

The story of love and forgiveness shocked the world.

On a bridge of the river Thames a teenager stood one night contemplating suicide. In the darkness of the night, close to jumping into the waters below, another love gripped his heart. He was led from the edge and Samuel Trever Francis went home and penned these words:

"O the deep deep love of Jesus

Vast, unmeasured, boundless free!

Rolling as a mighty ocean

In its fullness over me,

Underneath me all around me

Is the current of Thy love

Leading onward, leading homeward

To Thy glorious nest above!

O the deep deep love of Jesus

Spread His praise from shore to shore!

How He loveth, ever loveth,

Changes never, nevermore!

How He watches oer His loved ones,

Died to call them all His own;

How for them He intercedeth

Watchful oer them from the throne!

O the deep deep love of Jesus

Love of every love the best!

Tis an ocean vast of blessing,

Tis a haven sweet of rest

O the deep love of Jesus

Tis a heaven of heavens to me;

And it lifts me up to glory,

For it lifts me up to Thee!"

No one takes my life from me, but I lay it down on my own-John 10: 11-18
