The Wings of the Morning

Darkness and Light are One

The rays of the morning sun travel at an astonishing rate of 194,188 miles per second.

All across our planet and after a dark night those rays travel across our planet

When the poet David describes flying on the wings of the morning sun it brings images of speed and beauty. If that flight took us to the depths of the sea then we would be held up by the hands of God .

Where we are flying from we are flying to

"And being very tired and having nothing inside him Shasta felt so sorry for himself that the tears rolled down his cheeks.

What put a stop to this was a sudden fright.

Shasta discovered that someone or somebody was walking beside him

It was pitch black and he could see nothing

And the Thing or Person was going so quietly that he could hardly hear any footfalls.

The Thing (unless it was a person) went on beside him so quietly that Shasta began to hope that he had only imagined it.

So, he went on at a walking pace and the unseen companion walked and breathed beside him

At last he could bear it no longer.

"Who are you?" he said, barely above a whisper

"One who has waited long for you to speak," said The Thing" C.S. Lewis, the horse and the boy

"Where from your presence shall I go?

Where from your spirit will I flee?

Since all above, around below

Exist in your immensity

If on the wings of the morning

Beyond the ocean I fly

Night on your rising shines like day

Darkness and light are one with you

Come on the wings of the morning

Come with your glory and grace

Come with your joyful surprise

Light up the sad and the mourning

Wiping the tears from our eyes." D. W. Whittle
